FAQs
How can therapy help me?
Often people are drawn to therapy if they are experiencing a crisis, persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, stress, having trouble managing daily life or facing relationship difficulties. However, you might simply consider therapy if you're curious about yourself, feeling a little stuck or lacklustre about life and want help to explore alternatives for personal growth and well-being.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy involves working with a therapist to address your emotional, mental, and behavioural patterns. It can help you understand your feelings, ways of relating, develop new strategies and improve your quality of life.
What can I expect during a therapy session?
Sessions last 50 minutes and involve joint exploration of your experience and the ways that you relate to others. The goal is to help you gain awareness and increase the range of choices that you have in how you want to respond.
How long does therapy take?
The duration of therapy varies for each individual. Some people may find significant improvement in a few sessions, while others may need ongoing support for several months or years. I would work with you to create a plan tailored to your specific needs.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. Therapists are bound by ethical and legal standards to protect your privacy. There are some exceptions to confidentiality, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, which I would discuss with you.
What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please contact me as soon as possible. I require at least 36 hours notice to avoid full payment for the session. This policy helps me to manage my schedule, room bookings and accommodate other clients.
